What a week!

34. That's the number I would have told you last week and probably the six months before, if you had asked how much Kinsey weighed. 34. She was holding steady for so long. We have a scale (a digital one, too, I'm not guessing). She gets one it a lot. It's like a toy in the bathroom. Then she was sick and after a day or so of not eating, then a couple of days of not eating much at all... She got on the scale yesterday and it read more than 34. I had her get on today and it was even more than yesterday. She's now 37 pounds.  I wonder what tomorrows number will be? Now with this new number I figure I should measure her, too. Yeah, she had herself a full on growth spurt. Almost 40" tall!

The girls are no longer sick but this illness continues to plague Rusty and I. Indy was better within a day.  Kinsey was feverish for 3 days.  On the forth day I knew she was better because she didn't climb up on dad and take a nap before noon.  Normal nap is around 2:30-3:00.  Rusty and I still have sore throats and awful coughs. I've been without my voice for several days now.  Really hoping this isn't prementant.

Only 19 more days and we can say we've survived the terrible twos.  For the first time anyways.

Hobbs Happenings

It's hard to believe that in less than a month Kinsey will be three. Three. Three. Ugh, I finally getting to a point where I can say it without tearing up. Well, sometimes.

Kinsey's out of school for the summer. We sure will miss them. In August, both of the girls will be attending. Hopefully, it will break Indy of this crazy stupid separation anxiety.  On the up side, we are looking forward to fun summer projects and travels.

Indy has a sinus infection.  She has the yuck eyes, snotty nose, raspy smoker breathing thing.  Poor girl. It seems like every time I turn around she is sick but when at the doctor yesterday, her file was reviewed and she's only had antibiotics one other time. So I guess we're doing alright.

In cutest kids ever news... Typically on bath nights for Indy we have some overlap time when they are both in the tub together. Last night Indy did her new thing (which is bouncing mostly her head and shoulders while in a sitting position) and scooted herself right over to Kinsey.  I moved her back to her corner of the ring and she bounced right back over to Kins. And again.  When she got to her she just reached out and put her hands on Kinsey's legs and stared up at her. Kins was talking to her and she just smiled.   I'll try to video it next time. It's straight up love.

The Peanut Heartbreak

Today when I picked Kinsey up from school, Mrs. Debbie apologized for the dirt all over Kinsey's shirt. But I assured her it was no big deal as it happens every time she eats Oreo's.
So, as Kinsey is getting in the car, I say, "did you have cookies today?" And to my surprise she tells, "the cookies had sprinkles." Wow, what kinda fancy Oreo's did I send with you today?
Then she continued, "The kids had cookies. The cookies had sprinkles. The kids at the big table. The big table. Not Kinsey. Kinsey was at the little table. All the kids were at the big table..."
Whoa whoa whoa... She was still rattling on, but I had questions!
"You weren't at the big table? You were at a little table? By yourself?"
"Nope. Kinsey and Jaycie."
I felt that tingle in my nose, you know, the one that happens right before tears form.  See, I know where this is going. Jaycie also has a peanut allergy.
"So Kinsey and Jaycie were sitting at the little table?"
"Uh huh. And all the kids were eating cookies. Sprinkles on cookies."
"And why wasn't Kinsey?"
And there it was, a flash forward of a lifetime of being left out, missing out on the cake because, maybe... not being carefree, having to be overly concerned... but being a kid that always has to worry and be cautious... (maybe that's a little over dramatic but still).
"Because of peanut butter." Insert sad face here.

Now, let me clarify! PDO is peanut free.  The director, Mrs. Monica, is more on top of this peanut thing than I may ever be. Her daughter has a severe peanut allergy. Severe enough to include 911 calls, epipen sticks, ambulance rides... you get the point. Severe! It's made clear that not only should group snacks be peanut free but also individual meals should be peanut free.  Things have been sent home with me, unopened, with a circle around the words MAY CONTAIN PEANUTS on the label. (I mean seriously, who would think that yogurt covered raisins would say that on the label!)  Mrs. Monica and that the others are on top of it! I don't worry about Kinsey in their care.

As for what happened today, I really can't say but I'm glad to know they aren't taking any chances with my kid and that Kinsey is aware she has a peanut allergy.

Hobbs Happenings

After only one class Kinsey is a swimmer. She swam the length of the pool 6 times! She can even swim without a back float.
I finished my photography class this week. We didn't have a final exam so that was a major plus.  But I totally would have Aced it.
Indy is a total flirt but only with daddy.  She can't look at him without smiling. It's so cute!

Little sister's first time in the big tub (by herself, anyways.) She's much more rambunctious now. The first time she was a little more guarded than she is now. I feel like it's a glimpse into her personality. It's also a fun video because of all of Kinsey's chatter.

Here's how we celebrated Cinco de Mayo! The Mexican Flag.

The weather continues to be hot and dry, so we play outside. A lot! (Rocket would like to thank Trish and Katie for the bunny bubble blower.)
Indy loves to watch those two.

Happy Mother's Day! Daddy and the girls bought me a new purse and wallet. And I bought myself an ice cream purse cake. It was a happy mother's day indeed.  Kinsey has told me "Happy Mother's Day, momma." every morning since!

Photo weekly update.

This is a beautiful thing.  The girls were playing while I fixed dinner.

Happy 5th Anniversary!

We decided to rent a cabin for a getaway weekend.

It was a very cute place.

Kinsey, of course, choose the king size bed as her own.

And left Rusty and I with the smaller queen.
But we took turns sleeping with her so she wouldn't freak out if she awoke in a strange place.

Kinsey goes on a pony ride.

A pony pooped!

Monjeau Lookout.

There's a ranger in there looking out for fires. He gave Kinsey lots of Smokey the Bear propaganda, which we loved.

It was super windy up there.  The ranger said they had 94 mile an hour winds the night before, which coincidently was when we lost power in the cabin.

Love them.

Group self portrait.  The girls clearly don't understand they are supposed to be looking at the camera.

Ready to learn to swim!

Kinsey and Mrs. Kris. She seems to be having fun.

She's supposed to be kicking and scooping. Good thing she's cute because Mrs. Kris is letting her get away with doing neither.

Kinsey jumping in. Porter-not so sure yet.

No fear. Jumping again.

In the kick race, Kinsey lost to Porter.
